Long Distance Relationships
Hello everyone! Today I am writing, about long distance relationships. About 2 years ago I was on myspace and I started talking to this guy who I seemed to be interested in. Well after about 2 months of talking we decided to meet each other, he lived in Parkersburg, West Virginia and I lived in Athens, Ohio. So about an 1 hour and 1/2 of a drive up and the same back. It was crazy. After him coming down about 20 times a month for 2 months, he ended up asking me out. Of course I said "Yes". It was my first long distance relationship. We were dating for about a year and 1/2 then he went to the Army on July 4, 2011. It was very depressing and lonely. Nothing would keep my mind off of him. It was like he was constantly running through my head. I miss him more and more every day. Since we always did everything together such as swimming, going on long walks on the bike path, riding bicycles and going to the movies. We were always doing something together. He is the greatest person that has ever walked into my life. He is the most amazing person I know. He is very smart and intelligent person. He is wanting to start a life with me here soon within a month. I love him with all my heart and it doesn't matter how many miles away he is, I’ll always love him. He is very special to me. I would never want us to split up. On September 15th, 2011, I went to Fort Benning, Georgia to see him on his 56 hour family day pass. He graduated from basic September 16th, 2011. Now, he is in AIT training. I must say it's difficult him not being around and it tears me apart inside knowing that I’m here in Ohio and he is hundreds of miles away. It's very hard managing a long distance relationship but if you love a person so much you'll do anything. And I am that person willing to take that risk on doing anything. Only because he means the world to me and I would never let him down. I'm here to support him 100% of the way.
So it depends how you react to a long distance relationship but here are some tips that could help time fly by if they are in the military:
1. Talking to your partner on the phone.
2. Talking to your partner on the internet regularly.
3. Write your partner letters if possible. Let him/her know that you’re thinking about them.
4. Explain your feelings in a letter. How, you feel about them and why?
5. Be open about your feelings.
You could check this website out where I got my information:
Just think about how many military families, girlfriends/ boyfriends, and friends are out there without their Soldier? In my opinion, there is too many.
Just think we complain about how hot it is. We need to realize 1.) It isn't 109- 116 degress. 2.) We're not hundreds of miles away from home. 3.) We're not dressed in a full battle dressed uniform, helmet and carrying 70 pounds plus. 4.) There is a very little chance that anyone will shoot at us or that we might drive over a bomb on the road. But a Soldier does. Special thanks to all the people who served or still serving our country! Stay Safe!
